{"id":2720,"date":"2023-01-15T18:11:59","date_gmt":"2023-01-15T17:11:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digitalia.culturanuova.net\/blog\/?p=2720"},"modified":"2023-09-15T16:30:50","modified_gmt":"2023-09-15T14:30:50","slug":"edit-video-metadata","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digitalia.culturanuova.net\/blog\/?p=2720","title":{"rendered":"edit video metadata"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>To edit video metadata without re-encoding a video, you can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>if the video is an <strong>mp4<\/strong> use VLC (tools\/media info), with many options (besides title and date, you can set genre, artist, album, comment and so on).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>if the video is an <strong>mkv<\/strong> use MkvToolNix Header  editor (only for title and date)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunalely, MkvToolNix is not able to change other than title and date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But a <strong>workaround<\/strong> can be <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>convert a video from mkv to mp4 (copying audio and video: very fast)  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>edit the new mp4 metadata file with vlc <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>re-convert (if you want) the mp4 file to a mkv file (copying audio and video), keeping your added metadata.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>I found that a good tool to make the conversion (from e to mkv, editing the preset and selecting copy audio and copy video, in audio and video tabs) can be <strong>MistiQ Video Converter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To edit video metadata without re-encoding a video, you can: Unfortunalely, MkvToolNix is not able to change other than title and date.
