Basti pensare che con LibreOffice si può inserire in un documento di testo un database mysql (perfettamente standard), o con LibreCalc si può salvare un diagramma in formato SVG, la grafica vettoriale del w3c, o si può usare LibreBase come interfaccia grafica dei database mysql (/mariadb).

O basti pensare che mentre LibreOffice sa leggere un documento di formato proprietario (docx, ad esempio), MS Office fa finta di non sapere leggere un documento in formato Open.
